چکیده

medical unfitness ; of these 53 were suffering from rheumatism, 28 from phthisis, 25 from injuries or results, 25 debility, 17 bronchitis, 15 defective vision, and 11 from disease of the heart. More recently, the Lancet gives tho statistics of the City police for the year ending June 1870. The average strength was 698 men, of whom 180 are unmarried. Tho latter are more prone to sickness in the proportion of 602 to 440 per mille ; but the mortality is less. Men on night duty are less healthy than those on day duty, in the proportion of 584 to 431 per mille.
